Happy Easter – quarter one wraps up

April 13, 2017 Aspin News

Before we celebrate the Easter bank holiday and the onslaught of chocolate eggs that comes with it, we thought we’d take a look back at the year so far. We give you the highlights of the first quarter of 2017…

Spring Fair 2017

For the eighth consecutive year, we spent the week in Birmingham at the UK’s biggest trade show for the home and giftware sector; Spring Fair. Whilst exhibiting at the NEC, we were able to meet with Aspin clients, many of whom were using PixSell throughout the show. It was rewarding to see that paint brush distributors LG Harris were reaping the rewards of the app, having just launched PixSell at the beginning of the week ahead of the show. Spring Fair always gives us a great opportunity to meet with prospective clients face-to-face to learn more about their businesses, and we are excited to be implementing a number of projects throughout the year as a result of the show.

Housewares Innovation Awards 2017

During Spring Fair week we were able to take some time out from exhibiting to attend the Housewares Innovation Awards. For the second year in a row, Aspin sponsored an award and hosted a table at the event, and we were delighted to welcome a number of our clients’ in the housewares industry for drinks and a meal. The HIA celebrates the very best of retailers and suppliers in the industry, and it was great to see that so many of our customers’ were up for awards. You can view a round-up of the ceremony here.

PixSell version 2.8

The latest version of PixSell was released to the App Store in March and it contained several exciting new features designed to give the user more control of their app during day-to-day use. New additions include a barcode scanner via the iPad camera, plus the ability for head office to manage rep workflow via the new Workflow module. PixSell is updated regularly to provide users with a robust application, and new features and developments for their investments. You can find more information on the latest update here.

RafalNew iOS Developer

This year we’ve welcomed Rafal to the Aspin team. Rafal joins us as an iOS Developer and will be working as part of the PixSell team to further develop the app. Rafal brings experience with Objective-C and Swift and has recently developed his own app (a multiplayer racing game) which can be found on the iTunes store.

Aspin client workshop

The first Aspin workshop was held at the start of April, and we are very pleased to say that it was a great success. The workshop, which was targeted to managers and directors whose sales teams use PixSell, was made up of a series of talks to give customers a refresh on how best to manage and utilise the app. We welcomed 35 of our customers from a diverse range of industries to the Holiday Inn in Oxford, and it was exciting to see how everyone was engaged, and how much they value PixSell as part of their business. View the round-up here.

There has been a superb demand to attending these workshops, and we are looking forward to hosting more of our customers in both May and June at the same location.

Aspin social events

Throughout 2017 we plan to hold regular social events for all the staff at Aspin. At the start of the year, several of us visited the Flack Manor Brewery in Romsey for an enjoyable tour and beer tasting session. In February, we went to Hollywood Bowl in Southampton, followed by a meal. Another dinner out is also in the pipeline to celebrate the half year AGM; once the Cromwell Arms in Romsey (one of our favourite venues!) is refurbished.

Bi-annual general meeting

We added a bi-annual meeting to our annual meeting for the first time this year. This gave us a great opportunity to assess how the business has progressed over the last six months. During the meeting we were given a run-through of the latest InterSell and PixSell projects and developments, plus a recap of our clients’ business news and our plans for the rest of the year.

We look forward to the continual growth of the business with additional projects keeping us all busy, but until then…

Happy Easter!
