Maximise your time at Spring Fair

February 1, 2017 Aspin Spring Fair 0 Comments

Aspin will once again be exhibiting at Spring Fair and it gives us the great opportunity to provide ongoing support to our clients, many of whom will be showcasing their product range via our PixSell catalogue and ordering app.

Spring Fair is the UK’s biggest annual gift show and hundreds of exhibitors from the gift, greeting card, toy and homeware sectors will be in attendance meeting with their customer and signing new accounts. To ensure that you get the best out of Spring Fair 2017, we’ve compiled a list of our top tips…

Before the show:

1) Clearly set out what you want to achieve

Having specific goals means that your staff understand why you are exhibiting at a show and you can then focus on achieving these targets and goals. One idea is to set SMART objectives as a way to measure the success of your trade show attendance. Will a successful show be measured by the number of sales? Or are you just looking to pick up as many potential leads as possible? It might also be beneficial to do some research prior to the show to find out who will be attending. This will help to ensure that you speak to the right people.

2) Does your stand design work for you?

Your trade stand will serve as your ‘first impression’ at Spring Fair and will be the first thing a customer notices as they approach you. Not only is your stand designed to display all your products, it also portrays your brand messaging. The key to the stand design is that people understand immediately what you can offer them.

3) Promote what you do

Using social media in the lead up to any trade show is great for engagement, and it can be used to promote special offers and incentives. People need a reason to visit your stand – so give them one!

It is always wise to try and book appointments with people before the show so that you can prepare for your time with them. Whilst you will hopefully get lots of organic traffic to the stand, it’s important to look after your existing customers and make them know that their continued business is the reason you are exhibiting.

At the show:

1) Present yourselves well

The majority of people who visit your stand will be potential customers, with some business ideas and hopefully a budget! Make sure staff greet each visitor to the stand and are equipped to qualify each person. Consider that it is not just your products and stand design which influence people, but your company representatives too.

2) Market research

Take some time to have a walk round the show to see what other businesses in your sector are doing this season. Spring Fair is not only time to see your customers, but also to meet with industry peers. Close contact with those in your industry and industry leaders can be extremely positive, if you take the time to leverage those relationships and connections – you could find yourself introduced to many opportunities.

3) Wear comfy shoes!

‘Nuff said.

After the show:

1) Follow up all your leads

Sound obvious? You would’t believe the amount of leads that do not get followed up after a show. We hope that most of your time at Spring Fair will be spent taking orders, however you will take home lots of business cards and promises, and these require additional legwork. Moreover, you’ll never remember every conversation you have, so write things down at the show so you can refer back and follow up when you’re back in the office.
