UK Greetings roll MiniSell out to merchandising teams

Following an initial trial during 2009 with 100 MiniSell handheld users, 2010 saw UK Greetings roll out MiniSell to the majority of their UK merchandising teams servicing the major supermarket sector. This amounted to 1150 handheld users.

UK Greetings is the UK’s market leading direct-to-retail publisher and manufacturer of greetings cards and associated social expression products. Based in West Yorkshire, they supply their products to all key distribution channels including major supermarkets, high street specialists, UK independents and international retailers.

As a business, UK Greetings were already familiar with the use of handhelds in the field, their merchandisers having used Telxon devices since the early 1990s. However, with the need to streamline additional business processes and provide more information to their mobile teams, they saw the MiniSell platform as the ideal springboard for this growth.

MiniSell enables UKG’s merchandisers to carry out pocket re-order and zero pocket tasks and also allows them to raise credits, undertake stock adjustments and stock counts and confirm deliveries. Extensively parameterised, MiniSell provides a structured procedure for each task to ensure that the merchandisers complete them accurately and efficiently.

The MiniSell software itself was thoroughly tested by the UKG prior to the roll-out, initially starting with 10 handheld users, before expanding this to a 100 user trial. Throughout this trial period, Aspin’s MiniSell development team worked closely with UKG to customise the software to meet their needs. This enabled UK Greetings to not only evaluate the software, but also Aspin as a service provider for this key aspect of their business.
