On Friday 27th September 2019 we held our annual cake fest in support of Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. This week we received a lovely ‘thank you’ for our donation of £118, which is now proudly on display in our staff kitchen – bringing joy and good feeling along with a constant reminder of cake.

We’re thrilled to be able to support Macmillan in this way and thank all staff involved for their baking, buying, eating and donating.

In 1911 a young man named Douglas Macmillan watched his father die of cancer. His father’s pain and suffering moved Douglas so much, he founded the Society for the Prevention and Relief of Cancer.

Over 100 years later, Douglas’ legacy lives on in Macmillan Cancer Support. One of Britain’s most successful charities, Macmillan provides much needed emotional, practical and financial support to those affected by cancer.

The ever-popular World’s Biggest Coffee Morning (who doesn’t like cake and a natter?) started in 1990 with a simple focus on getting people together over a cuppa.

Today, this simple initiative has raised over £27.5m. It just goes to show that when people come together in small acts of kindness, something amazing can happen.
