Why we’re not exhibiting at the next Spring Fair

February 4th marks the start of Spring Fair 2018 – the UK’s biggest annual gift show. This show is significant to our business, with many customers exhibiting and the opportunity for us to meet with them all. So why wouldn’t we be exhibiting in 2018? Read on to find out…

Spring Fair – home to long walks, seeing how our customers’ fare, designing and setting up our stand. It’s an intense week for us, and we have decided to assess what it actually means to our business. Did our stand struggle with the amount of visitors? Honestly? No, it didn’t. It was a tough call to make, but the right one we believe.

In previous years, Spring Fair has given us the great opportunity to provide ongoing support to our exhibiting clients on their stands – something that we will continue to do – but don’t need our own stand to do so. Our customers have invested time, blood, sweat and tears into their stands to showcase and sell their products via our PixSell catalogue and ordering app. Putting aside a few hours at the show to have a catch up with us isn’t a priority for most, and since we are consistently learning about our market even after 30 years, we wanted to honour that. The show is one of the main selling events for the gift, home and housewares sectors and is a key trading event for our customers. Whilst our software systems are intrinsic to the success of these trading events for many of our clients, we need to recognise when they need us and when they don’t.

You may wonder how we have counteracted this decison in our business. Many of you may already know that to ensure that our customers are getting the very best value from their investment with Aspin, we have held four customer workshops throughout 2017. Each event – which saw over 120 attendees from 60 businesses attend – allows us to spend some quality time with our customers, and provide them with best practice tips and advice on our software. For customers that have been on our books for years – it was a nice refresh for them. For newer customers, it was nice for them to meet other users and swap tips.

With additional workshops planned in 2018, we want to ensure that we are able to provide face-to-face support to all of our customers – away from a busy trade show environment. Our next event is a B2B eCommerce workshop on March 6th 2018.
